“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.”

~William Wordsworth

You would not believe how many courses I’ve taken or coaches I’ve listened to or articles I’ve read about how to write copy to attract my ideal clients.

When I started on this entrepreneurial path two years ago, I felt so new.

Even though I’d studied English at UCLA, taught writing for over 10 years, and been a writer all my life, I felt like I didn’t know the first thing about how to turn my words into selling magnets or convert readers into clients.

I had no idea how to write an about page or a bio or a tagline.

So, I studied. I researched and devoured everything that would teach me how to sell with my words.

And then I implemented. I followed through on so many different tactics that I was sure would totally work.

But the truth is, none of them did, not in the way they were meant to…

In the end, the only thing that has helped me attract the kind of people I want to work with has been writing from my heart.

Truly.

When I’m excited about something, when I am turned on, when I am passionate…magic happens.

The words that resonate the most with people are the ones I’ve written from a place of love.

When we think about a new way of working, writing and living, the only thing that I can say is do it from the heart.

Get to know your heart. Listen to what she’s asking for, what she’s enthusiastic about, what matters most to her.

And then write from that space. Free from fear, free from formality, free from shoulds and other people’s ideas of what you’re supposed to do.

Free yourself to be vulnerable and fully express your truth.

Since I built my own website two years ago, I have edited and revised my copy at least a dozen times. Every time I’d read a new business idea, I’d race to my site and change my words according to what someone told me I should be doing.

The thing is, none of it ever really felt like me. Something was amiss. It just didn’t resonate.

So recently, I decided to break the rules I’ve been taught.

And this is what Writing from the Heart is all about ~ breaking the rules and honoring our own inner loving voice.

Writing from the heart means deciding to feel inspired first and then write.

Feel aligned first, then write.

Feel connected to your heart first, then create.

With this in mind, I went back to the drawing board.

I decided to simplify.

And write from my heart.

From a place of love and inspiration.

My copy is much shorter and sweeter and finally feels like me.

I can feel the love in my words aligned with my heart.

And this makes all the difference.

If you are longing for your words to feel more aligned with your heart, then join me for my first ever Write from the Heart workshop. Love first, then create. Details here.
