Years ago, I started using this technique to connect with my intuition. To help figure out what feels most aligned, I would ask myself, “Is this a hell yes?”

This simple question helps me get out of my head and feel into my body to notice what sensations arise…Excitement? Fear? Anticipation? Enthusiasm? Apathy? Fun? Overwhelm? Joy? Wonder?

The body doesn’t lie. And when I sense the feelings that arise from this question, I am always more clear. If there is reluctance, doubt, fear, worry, or anxiety, then the answer is a probably not or a no.

This does not mean that it’s a never. Maybe at some other point, it could be a hell yes, but not in this moment.

I’ve used this practice in all manner of choosing…from deciding what I want to eat, where I want to go, with whom I want to share my time, what changes I want to make in my life…all the things.

Learning to hear, honor and follow my inner guidance makes me feel aligned. And it’s a lifelong practice.

As children, we are often pretty clear about what feels aligned for us, but so many outside forces tell us no or shouldn’t or can’t that we start to believe them and begin listening to everyone else rather than our own inner wisdom.
There is a power that arises from knowing what you feel and honoring that knowing…and from having the courage to be willing to listen to your intuition in the first place.

This hell yes awareness is not a one time thing. It’s like any other commitment or relationship or discipline. It takes attention and energy and practice. It’s not something we achieve and never consider again. It’s a day to day, moment to moment decision to live intentionally in alignment with our inner wisdom, our inner knowing, our intuition.

A fun way to begin sensing this hell yes energy is to practice on seemingly meaningless decisions…like, what do I want to eat for breakfast? What would feel good to read today? What color would I like to wear?

Eventually these micro decisions help us build our courage and clarity to honor our intuition and begin trusting this inner knowing with the “bigger” and “more meaningful” decisions of our lives.

Once you begin to listen, your inner wisdom will no longer have to shout at you to get your attention…eventually, your intuition will only have to whisper and you’ll know what is right for you.

So begin today by asking yourself when you want to make a choice…Is this a hell yes for me right now?

Listen. And you’ll know.

Love & Peace,

Denise
