Have you ever contemplated when it is that most of us stop dressing up, playing make believe, and pretending to be whomever we choose? When does that brilliant sense of wonder and possibility diminish into being practical and reasonable? I see that it happens for most at some point during childhood, and I wonder why.

It’s as if there is something that shifts inside and declares, “No, you can’t pretend and imagine anymore, you must be serious and focused and realistic from now on.”

And yet, there are many who have rejected this notion and have instead purposefully chosen to become the person they DREAM of being.

As Mommy to two lovely girls, I ponder ways that I might support and encourage each of my daughters to stay connected and in tune with their most heartfelt desires and to bravely choose to fulfill their wildest dreams.

For nearly six months, my little two year old girl has been dressing up in her costumes every single day. No joke. First thing when she awakens, after she declares happily, “It’s morning!” her next words are, “I need a costume!”

The only time she sports her regular clothes is bath time and bed time (and that’s only because Mommy wants to snuggle comfortably next to her without the frill and lace of costumes in the way).

What I find most amazing is that all it takes for her to FEEL the joy and delight of BEING anyone she can imagine is just her willingness to dream.

If a two year old can create such happiness, then I know you and I can!

How may we allow ourselves to be exactly whom we choose?

What steps do we take to live the life of our dreams?

I think the first and perhaps most challenging step is to acknowledge that we DREAM, that we long for our human experience to be amazing, beautiful, inspired and meaningful.

Once we acknowledge our dreams, let us begin to embody them…to FEEL the emotions of being the person we long to be, of living the life we hope for, of experiencing such profound joy and abundance.

Give yourself a few minutes today and connect to your inner child, the part of you who really KNOWS how to dream, to imagine and BELIEVE.

What desires and dreams arise from your heart as you sit in meditative silence?

What hopes and wishes do you still carry for your life?

Take the first step today…

Open yourself to the possibility…

Connect with your dreams…

Feel your JOY expand!

Wishing you the courage and delight of a two year old!

Peace & Love,

Denise
