When I awaken each day, usually before I even open my eyes, I lie in stillness and practice gratitude.

I like to place one hand over my heart space and one over my belly. As I breathe in deeply, making space for all the richness of prana, I feel my entire core rise and fall with the flow. And then, I allow my mind to drift to anything and everything beautiful and wonderful in my world.

Images form in my mind. A charming smile from my love, my daughter reading aloud to me, my baby reaching up her arms asking, “hold you?,” my mama’s soothing embrace, my family’s unconditional love, my friends’ delightful laughter, the coziness of our home, the snuggles from our kitties…

Soon, I expand my vision…the air that oxygenates my physical body, the Earth that ever supports me, the abundance of food and water that nourish me, the positive energy in the universe that continually uplifts me and reminds me:

ALL is WELL.

What peace these few moments cultivate in my day. Rising feels more joyful, more aligned, more radiant. Giving thanks has become a gift to me. And, in cultivating this quality of gratitude, JOY grows.

The more joy I experience, the more love & kindness I may share…the more peace I can deliberately create.

How can you give yourself the gift of gratitude right now?

What will your joy inspire?
