On Wednesday afternoon I enjoyed a beautiful outdoor celebration of May Day…including crafting a natural bird feeder and flower crown with my lil’ girl, watching both my girls dance around the May pole with friends, and explore the “forest” near the park. I felt alive, vibrant, energetic and enthusiastic.

Cut to 7pm that night…me stuck in the bathroom, dripping with sweat, burning up and freezing at the same time, focusing wholeheartedly on just taking one more calming breath, knowing that I would feel better again soon…

Sometimes SICK happens.

Out of the blue, we’re struck down with the most intense and nasty physical ailment that renders us weak and at the mercy of our dis-ease. Yes, I know you can empathize…it totally sucks. But there IS light at the end of this tunnel.

The good thing about feeling sick:

APPRECIATING the challenge of sickness and moving into deeper GRATITUDE for wellness.

Seriously, sometimes we humans take things for granted…like the ease we experience on most days, the ability to walk and move freely, the comfort of eating anything we choose, the overall well-being that is present for most of us most of the time.

We can learn a lot from the way we face our dis-ease. Whether it be in the body, mind or spirit.

In the past I would have fought against my “sickness,” struggled and writhed in desperation for it to be over…now I do my best to go with the flow.

If there is anything in your life that you are feeling “sick” about, perhaps you can try a new approach, too…

Just Breathe

1. Accept

Acceptance is powerful. Just be in the moment, feel whatever comes up (no pun intended!), and simply acknowledge your current experience without judgment.

2. BREATHE

Of course, our breath is always our first guide, our greatest healer, and a pure, immediate tool to transcend our challenges.

3. Allow

Allow a feeling of peace to move through you. Know in your heart the truth that THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Experience relief by envisioning a feel good future.

Whether we face illness, despair, frustration, or any of the “negative” human experiences, we always have a CHOICE of how we respond.

Do we follow our minds to darker places, pondering the most horrible outcomes, or do we choose to focus on moving through our challenge with EASE and GRACE, knowing in the end that ALL IS WELL?

When we purposefully CHOOSE to be present in our experience and ever focused on the good, we open our hearts to fresh insights and new ways of healing.

Hoping these words find you feeling well in your body, mind and spirit today!

Love & Light,

Denise 🙂
